Community Emergency Management Corrections Sheriff's Office Volunteers Recruiting

On November 4, 2008 Larry Blanton was elected Sheriff of Deschutes County for a four year term beginning January 2009.    Blanton was appointed Sheriff on April 16, 2007 serving the balance of retired Sheriff Les Stiles’ term.  During Blanton’s term, he will concentrate on challenging issues such as jail overcrowding and matrixing.  In addition, he will focus on providing programs that are aimed to reduce recidivism by teaching inmates to become employable citizens upon release.

In 2005 the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office completed a strategic plan for the development of additional public safety services, correction needs and treatment.  We are grateful that in 2006 the citizens of Deschutes County passed our request for permanent funding.  This funding allows us to move forward in our strategic plan for public safety which enhances the quality of life for all citizens in Deschutes County.
