WHISNANT To Take House Seat

County Commissioners Vote Whisnant in for State House of Representative Seat
In a special meeting held this morning at 11:00am, Deschutes County Commissioners Tom DeWolf and Mike Daly voted for Republican Party Chair Gene Whisnant to fill the State House of Representative Seat resently vacated by Senator Ben Westlund. Commissioner Dennis Luke abstained from casting a vote.
In his comments after the vote, Commissioner DeWolf said he knows Whisnant well, “...he’s fair and honest and I respect him. I look forward to working with him.”
Commissioner Daly shared in his prepared statement that “...Gene Whisnant is by far the most qualified. He has worked very hard over the past few years to prepare himself for the position and I believe in rewarding hard work.”
