Search and Rescue

Search and Rescue activities are a mandated function of the Sheriff's Office.   Our mission is to provide search and rescue assistance to the citizens of Deschutes County, visitors to the County, and mutual aid to other counties as requested. 

Deschutes County SAR consists of five teams.  These are: A general ground search team plus specialized teams for winter search and medical evacuation, mountain rescue (technical climbing), water operations (SCUBA, ice, swift water), and canine search.

Our organization is probably the busiest in the state.  We average over 100 training and actual missions each year.
