Developmental Disabilities Program

Kathy Drew:  Program Manager  541-322-7557

Office:  541-322-7554

What is a Developmental Disability?

A developmental disability must be attributable to mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, or other neurological handicapping conditions which require training or support similar to that required by individuals with mental retardation.

Mental Retardation must be manifested by age 18 and verified over time.

A Developmental Disability must be attained prior to age 22 with low adaptive skills due to the identified disability and NOT by other mental health diagnosis.

Both MR and DD must be expected to last indefinitely and constitute a substantial handicap to the individual.

Not all persons who exhibit the above will be eligible for services.  Test results and diagnosis have specific criteria that must be met.  An eligibility team will review all records to determine if State requirements are met.

Funding options and level of support are limited.
