Welcome to the 42nd Concert Season of Central Oregon Symphony! We have a great variety of music selected for this upcoming season. The Fall 2008 concert will begin with a work by Franz von Suppé titled Overture to Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna . This will be followed by the Concertino for Trombone by Ferdinand David. Our guest soloist will be Henry Henniger, a native of Oregon who currently resides in Portland and plays and teaches throughout the Willamette Valley . The winter concert will include works by Copland, Kabalevsky, Fauré, and Strauss. The Spring Concert will feature Alexander Ghindin, 1st Prize winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition, performing Prokofiev Concerto for Piano No. 3. The Central Oregon Symphony is under the music direction of Maestro Michael Gesme. We are composed of approximately 85 musicians. The size of the group is determined by the music to be performed. Each composition requires different instrumentation. All of our musicians are volunteers. For more information about our 2008-2009 season's repertoire, please go to our concert schedule page. |
