AUDIO AND WRITTEN TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS

Copies of non-confidential recorded court proceedings may be obtained upon written request. Deschutes County Circuit Court records proceedings on compact disc (CD) media.  To listen to the CD, you will need a personal computer with a sound card and speakers.  In addition, a software application called FTR Player Plus needs to be installed on the computer. This software is free and can be downloaded by clicking on the 'ForTheRecord' link below. You will be re-directed to another web site; to return to this site select 'Back' from your browser window.

AUDIO COPIES

 
How do I make a request for an Audio Copy?
  1. Submit required forms as oulined in the Public Records Policy. The form may be submitted by mail or returned to the information counter in the Justice Building or the file viewing room in the Courthouse.
  2. You may request an audio copy in person. Court staff will provide you an Audio Copy Request Form. Complete the form and return it to the information counter in the Justice Building or the file viewing room in the Courthouse.
 
What are the fees for Audio Copies and when are they due?
  • $10.00 per tape or compact disc;
  • $0.25 per page for audio log sheets;
  • postage costs (the court will only mail to parties outside of Deschutes County), 
  • All fees must be paid in full before copies are made. Payment of the fees can be made by cash, check, cashier check, money order, Visa or Mastercard.
 
When should I receive my audio request?
 
Normal turn around time is three (3) business days after receipt of payment. Some requests may take longer, depending on staff demands and the volume of pending requests. Requests are processed in the order they are received. Payment in full must be received before the request is processed.
 

WRITTEN TRANSCRIPT REQUEST

 
How do I make a request for a Written Transcript?
  1. Submit a Written Transcript Request Form. The form may be submitted by mail or returned to the information counter in the Justice Building or the file viewing room in the Courthouse.
  2. Transcript Coordinator will assign your request to an independent transcriptionist. The independent transcriptionist will contact you to provide an estimate of the cost and time needed to prepare the transcript.
 
What are the fees for Written Transcripts and when are they due?
  • The cost is $2.50 per page for the original and $0.25 per page for each copy (ORS 21.470)
  • Payment is made to the independent transcriptionist and they determine when payment is due.
 
When should I receive my Written Transcript?
  • Depending on the complexity or length of the hearing/trial, transcripts may take several days or weeks to complete. You should discuss this matter with the assigned transcriptionist.
  • You may request your transcript be expedited, but the transcriptionist may charge a higher amount per page.
