PERS
The employee “pick-up” portion of PERS (Public Employees Retirement System) is currently paid for by the County and is 6% of the employee’s monthly gross salary. The County also contributes an additional 6.58% as the employer portion. If an employee leaves service before retirement age, only the 6% amount can be withdrawn by the employee.
Employees must work in a PERS covered position for six full calendar months before their PERS benefits go into effect. However, if the employee is already an Oregon PERS member, their PERS will go into effect immediately.
