Onsite Systems
The Onsite Program is designed to provide wastewater treatment and dispersal for homes that are not served by a community or centralized sewer system. Drainfields must be properly designed and installed for two reasons:

  • To protect the groundwater aquifer because contaminated groundwater can affect drinking water supplies and pollute rivers, lakes and streams; and
  • To protect public health because improper disposal of sewage causes many diseases in humans.
