Structure of Deschutes County

 

Deschutes County is a general-rule county governed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). The BOCC consists of three elected, at-large commissioners. The commissioners oversee all aspects of county services, and act as community liaisons to local municipalities and agencies on the state and federal levels. The County also has an elected District Attorney, County Assessor, County Clerk, County Treasurer, and County Sheriff.

 

With a population of approximately 152,600 residents, the County offers services ranging from Health and Human Services to Sheriff's patrols, Planning and Zoning to Community Justice, Roads, 9-1-1 Operations, Victims' Assistance, Veterans' Services, Solid Waste Operations, and many more as may be observed in the County's Organizational Chart.
