Central Oregon Partnerships for Youth (COPY)
Children of parents who are incarcerated in corrections institutions face greater risks, barriers, and challenges than those fortunate enough to live in a more stable family environment. The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Central Oregon Partnerships for Youth (COPY) initiative was created to provide support and assistance to the children of inmates, giving them an equal opportunity to succeed.
The initiative makes use of the well-researched and documented approach of mentoring to offer youth positive role models and healthy relationships with adults outside of the immediate family. These measures have been proven to favorably affect school performance, attitude, social skills, and behavior.
